Don't let the word "plan" intimidate you. When you enter the workforce, you're going to hear about strategic plans, marketing plans, branding plans, rebranding plans, website plans. membership plans, event plans, etc. You get the idea.
If you feel that way, once you get over the intimidation factor, and jump into the planning process, I think you'll have fun with the language, ideas and templates. Sometimes you'll have the freedom to create your own templates, and you may choose Word, Excel, etc. Or sometimes the company has a standardized template that they want you to use.
Here are some samples of plans that I have written. As always, I mixed up the company names and omitted any proprietary or confidential information.
